Group Teacher System

Children are allocated to a group when starting at Elmdon. Group teachers work to form close bonds with the children in their groups and are responsible for keeping parents informed of activities they have enjoyed on a daily basis in the Home/School book. They also maintain progress records in the children’s Learning Journeys. A regular feature of the morning timetable is the ‘Next Steps’ table, allowing group teachers time to work closely with individuals, monitoring their development in all areas of the curriculum and helping them to move towards the next stage of their learning.

Our staff are well qualified, extremely experienced and have worked at Elmdon for an average of 8 years, however it is their ability to communicate with the children with warmth and sensitivity, their wonderful creativity and their sense of fun that is most highly valued.

“Children form extremely secure attachments with staff, which nurtures their emotional well-being particularly well….Staff are highly motivated and enthusiastic. They use their precise assessments of children’s learning to plan highly beneficial activities extremely well”
